Play The Documentary is a film for every music lover. As an independent crowd funded film, Play The Documentary has been seen all over the world through film festivals and independent distribution. The film has touched audiences in 26 public theatrical screenings over the past year, including an official selection at Phoenix International Film Festival, the Boost Film Festival in Palm Springs, CA, Cobargo Docos in Australia, four sold-out world premiere screenings in the U.S., special engagements at the Herberger Theatre, Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, and Alice Cooper’s Rock Teen Center. Filmmaker, Matty Steinkamp, witnessed his home state of Arizona slashing budgets and destroying the music programs in public schools that had fundamentally shaped his career and life. After seeing first hand the destruction at the schools he grew up in, from fully stripped auditoriums to empty band rooms and sold off instruments, he decided to take his frustration and use it as fuel to inspire positive change.
